Prakash Jha, noted film producer has decided to move Supreme Court on Friday to remove ban imposed on his movie ‘Aarakshan’ in certain states of India like Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
Further, the producer also stated that the ban imposed on ‘Aarakshan’ only points towards the restriction put on the process of having freedom of expression which has been granted by Constitution.
This issue has been fixed to be put up for hearing in the court at 2:00 pm today i.e. August 12th, 2011.
Jha has gone ahead and accepted to make certain modifications to the film mainly due to the concerns of certain political parties as per the information given by the producer in a press conference held in Mumbai on Friday.
Specific dialogues and scenes will be edited as per the changes which are to be done as per the objections raised. Jha also informed that they have been very careful in choosing the actual concept of the movie where reservation was certainly not a necessity but in fact was a constitutional truth.
Jha who also happens to be director for the movie has further informed that the entire movie is not totally about reservation but it also partially deals with the method in which education has been commercialized.
Ban imposed on aarakshan might be mainly due to the pressure from several political parties, however the movie has been directed to the public to only make them part of the discussion when it comes to something so sensitive without taking any sides on the matter.
Owing to the recent attacks, security for the stars cast in this movie has been doubled by Mumbai police of whom Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan have been mainly focused.
The movie has been set to hit the screens on Friday.
